Standing in someone's open backyard in a most scenic neighborhood of Astoria's skyline. Trees blocked the rest of downtown. The Astoria-Megler Bridge, connecting Hwy 30 & Hwy 101 with Oregon and Washington State, over the Columbia River. Astoria is the oldest settlement West of the Mississippi.

At the west end of the Astoria pier-boardwalk is the riverview Gazebo, just to the north of The Canery Cafe.

Controversial Condos are scheduled to be built on this stretch of shore on Astoria's historic Columbia River Waterfront. The decomposing wooden structure has most-likely already been demolished. One can see folks walking away. The Orange Building is a popular restaurant. Out in the Columbia River are a tug and tanker.
