The Morning Show for the Joe aficionado, those who rely on a steady flow of Joe pumping through their veins. Includes a visit to "The Sacred Grounds" in San Francisco, 1993.
Chris, Tim, and I decided to go camp out on a jogging path in Point Reyes National Park, California. We had nothing but sleeping bags, a duraflame, a guitar, a video camera, and a Steadicam Jr. We "ate pizza" as soon as we arrived.
This video contains footage from the evening itself, as well as the morning drive back to San Francisco.
A youth is not complete without several screaming renditions of Led Zeppelin songs while driving in cars. This is one of those renditions, featuring my friend Brian, driving around North Central Florida.
This is the first of my uploaded videos that I would consider to be totally embarrassing, before I had any notion of self consciousness. There will be more.
On the first tape of the first video camera I ever owned, my friend Brian and I lipsync and guitarsync to Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sounds of Silence" in my room in New Jersey in 1989.
Nothing exciting or groundbreaking here, except that I was beginning my journey as a videographer / filmmaker.
I believe the camera was a Canon, one of the first 8mm format cameras.
This is kind of how it began. At some point you pick up a guitar and start playing. If you were Brian or myself, you were playing Pink Floyd most of the time.
I was 20, and you can't be 20 on Sugar Mountain.
Florida, May 1993.
On the night I first met Natasha Topol Carlone, there was a lot of Jim Beam consumed. Here is a live wasted performance by Chris Carlone in the kitchen of 2022 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA, 1996. I'm accompanying on table percussion.
There was a time when I collected food products.
When a brand product design would get updated, I would save one of the last and one of the first of each product. I still have some original Campbell's Tomato soups.
These cereal boxes began to get stanky, and I realized I couldn't keep them forever, so I did the next most obvious thing, and introduced them to my foot.
The second 20thCenturyJosh vlog takes place randomly in time on July 6, 1995, in my room at 814 Divisadero Street, on the fourth anniversary of my arrival in San Francisco on July 6, 1991.
24 hours in the living room of 814 Divisadero Street, SF, 1993. I'm the guy both in the green velour striped shirt, and the zeppelin t-shirt. That room became my bedroom eventually, for three incredible years.
In my Grandma's Barn in West Nyack, NY, my beloved 1970 Datsun 240z lied in storage for three years. In the late summer of 1999, I finally removed the car from the barn. This timelapse was recorded with a quick-cam and an original bondi blue imac, which I set in the middle of the lawn with a long extension cord. The other guy in the video is my uncle Ave Karel with his dog Babe.
My very first night in my very first practice space in December, 1995, San Francisco, CA. This space was directly across the hall from the 4 Non Blondes space.
I planned this prank with one of my roommates at Kibbutz Maale Hachamisha on my other roommate. I think it's funny because of his piercing screech. October 1990
