I made this vlog on Wed., November 5, 2008--the day after the Presidential Election held in the USA! Congrats to both Barack Obama (future US President) AND to his competitor, John McCain--for that compelling concession speech. I only wish that McCain's supporters had more grace and tact.
On the evening of Tuesday, July 1st, 2008, the Corale Quadriclavio performed a few Latin songs in honor of the Grand Opening of the Pantheon in the Certosa Cemetery. Certosa is the city of Bologna, Italy's largest and oldest cemetery. Here, the corale performs "O SALUTARIS HOSTIA" by G. Rossini. As they perform, I was also trying to capture some of the beautiful tombs! CHE BELLA!
In this vlog, I show you everything from 50 euro to the one cent in the Euro money system. BTW, if you have a green thumb, feel free to leave a comment below telling me how often I should water this plant that I show in the beginning. I am trying to keep it alive by not overwatering it! CIAO!
This vlog was taken on Sunday, July 13, 2008. The best part about the crowds of Summer tourists, is that they often travel in tour groups. And, they bring their OWN English-speaking tour guide that tells the story about the art, architecture, etc! Here, I am enjoying the story about the Copy of David.
I have seen one other funeral mass held at the church across the street...This one got our attentiion at 10am on Saturday, Feb. 9th, 2008 due to the 20 piece band that played before and after funeral mass. It is Italian Tradition for the town priests to lead the "body" and the mourners follow, for a 15 minute walk to the outskirts of town to the Cemetery.
Sometimes, I ask myself that very question a few times a day over here in suburban Italy! My latest question is: Why did they remove HALF (four) trees yesterday from our pretty little Piazza? And, what will they replace the trees with? HOPEFULLY, better and bigger shade trees! This vlog brought to you in the rain on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Ciao from Italy, Kathleen
During our visit to the Ducati Factory (and museum) on Friday, October 23, 2008--they do not allow pictures--for obvious reasons IN the factory. However, I was able to vlog in the Ducati Museum. The Museum is a fantastic historical journey of the Ducati motorcycle. In this vlog, I show you their trophy case, as well as some of their "winning" motorcycles.
All may participate--you are ALL included...No ONE is EXCLUDED!! Please comment away on this video, please. The way that this game works is, whoever ends up with the MOST COMMENTS on their ONE video (this one!) I hope that you all enjoyed some corned beef and cabbage like I did on Saint Patrick's Day! My husband Fred and I enjoyed watching the annual SF St. Patrick's Day parade. My first time EVER! Great parade--it lasted an hour and a half! They are playing the "wearing of the green"! Erin go braugh!
For those of you unfamiliar with this particular housing style...As I was...UNTIL, I moved to San Jose, CA and DISCOVERED quite a treasure trove of EICHLER HOMES! J. Eichler was a real estate developer who during the period of 1949-1966 built over 10,000 of the "CA Modern" type of house in NO SO CA...I have never seen THE INCREDIBLES movie, but the house is supposed to resemble an Eichler home.
On the campus of SJSU. Standing in front of Martin Luther King Jr. Library--which houses both the collection of books for the university AND the entire city of San Jose, CA.
This particular restaurant was named after BOTH the original owner, ALICE, and Arlo Guthrie made up a song entitled "Alice's Restaurant" about a THEN-fictitious restaurant. All hikers, bikers and horseback riders love the food and reststop here!
