The two songs that open "Warrior on the Edge of Time" by Hawkwind. Two easily noticeable flubs as far as I recall, but this was the best take of three and my left hand didn't want to do more.
Psychedelic Warlords (Disappear in Smoke) by Hawkwind. No comment on the few goof-ups as it hasn't been a very good day in general. Before any of the other songs grew on me, I was hooked on the original version of this; I'd listen to it on constant playback while going for walks in the park, and gradually got to know the other songs on "Hall of the Mountain Grill" a bit better.
"Urban Guerilla" by Hawkwind. Not to be confused with an urban gorilla such as King Kong.
I keep hitting that E out of place, I can certainly hear it.
Also, my rising sign shouldn't be Cancer as far as I know; I'm a Virgo.
Einstein was actually married twice.
Hawkwind's "Quark, Strangeness and Charm". The usual stutter of my speech seemed remarkably absent from my singing here, until I went for this song; it's just one of those days.
"PSI Power" From Hawklords: 25 Years On.
Clipping galore, mostly the product of video editing where I had to artificially lengthen the pauses in the recorded vocals. I'm looking forward to a new microphone and hopefully some editing software, sooner rather than later.
A sampler of photos including but not limited to Ayria, Ghost Television, Nanochrist, Trench Run, Restricted Viewing, Delica, Anti-Hero, Perdition & Her Beautiful Death.
It's my second time toying with Windows Movie Maker, so try not to flame me too bad. :P
Spirit of the Age, by Hawkwind.
"I have no flaws to identify" is an interesting statement to make when my hand was cramping up from a simple two-chord progression. I think there are several flaws to identify, actually.
"Space Is Deep" by Hawkwind, because space has such depth to it!
Cobbled together haphazardly, and a portion was robbed from "Web Weaver" in homage to the version from Space Ritual (live '72).
Thanks to the NSSDC for the pics as those couldn't possibly be my own manufacture.
"Lovely Day" by Ayria, for loose definitions of "Lovely Day" by Ayria. I decided in my first non-Hawkwind outing that the only prudent thing to do is poorly transcribe a good electronic song and ruin it, all with only the best intentions of making a faithful cover. It also reveals more than ever how I CANNOT SING. :)
First version of "Down through the night" by Hawkwind; my tabs fail to include the intro. I tried to ape it to no avail, so this version lacks it entirely; it also lacks a four-bar bridge that didn't make any sense, but includes the second progression that I really like.
Silver Machine, Hawkwind's big single/hit from the early days; we'll get to the other more ocntroversial single in time.
This was a lot of fun, though it's still not perfect. Definitely not my best vocal performance, but then, I just don't have that Young Lemmy sound. Speaking of which... big pause due to speech pathology, not me forgetting the name or anything. Just ask anyone who knows me.
"Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind, final version. I might have liked the middle version best but the vid was too much, even for people who don't suffer from photo-sensitive epilepsy.
"Born To Go" by Hawkwind. I felt guilty after mangling a couple of bad transcriptions and decided the only way to cheer up was to attempt that bloody intro riff. In two takes... this was the better of the two, and I guess I can live with that.
Lord of Light, by Hawkwind. (NOT THE SONG OF THE SAME NAME BY IRON MAIDEN, SORRY.)
Tried using the upstroke with mixed results. Hand crampage by sixth take... and in a hurry because in about one minute I should be off to catch a bus! Happy viewing.
"Silver Machine" by Hawkwind, plus spiel at the beginning inspired by the Mighty Thunder Rider, Nik Turner. I can't really say I've seen silver coated women in flying saucers, though it sounds like it might be fun, so I made up stuff more relevant to my life and included photos taken in and around Toronto.
"Hurry On Sundown", Hawkwind. No more remakes are planned for this particular song. No butterflies were hurt in any photos depicted here, but one decided to crawl on my finger and looked a little worse for the wear; wings already tattered and the end near. Had to wrestle with audio formats before WMM would let me use something formatted by Ableton LiveLite. Onward!
The left gets better... and the right gets worse. Feat. music from Syd Barrett and VNV Nation as well as photos from a recent Puncture Vine/Johnny Hollow show.
Hawkwind's "Hurry On Sundown", abbreviated compared to the original. With no harmonica playing skills, let alone a harmonica, and no Terry Ollis on drums, it was tough to think of how to extend this at the drop of a hat.
