The goal tied this Game 7 Semi-Final match 4-4, which Montreal eventually won in overtime on a goal by Yvon Lambert. But the Canadiens came precariously close to getting eliminated. Butch Goring scores on Boston in Game 6 of the 1983 Conference Final at the Nassau Coliseum. Goring does a number on future Hall of Famer, Ray Bourque, and goalie Pete Peters, as his goal gives the New York Islanders a 1-0 lead. The Islanders went on to win the game 8-4 and clinch a birth into the Stanley Cup Final against Edmonton, and eventually their 4th consecutive Stanley Cup.
