In the middle of a long day of hiking in Puerto Rico's rainforest El Yunque, Joe takes a swim in La Mina falls. Note Mike realizing at one point that his camcorder is not waterproof and a bit too close to the falls
This part of the Kilauea Caldera erupted in the 1950's and filled this valley with lava. Over the next 30 years the magma lake cooled, and now you can walk across it, although there are numerous steam vents.
Puu Oo is an active hot spot that has been flowing since 1983 and actually obliterated a town on the south shore of Hawaii. Here at night the lava flows into the ocean. This is EXTREMELY BORING VIDEO that your parents might film, plus my camera kina sucks and didn't know what to focus on in the dark.
Kilauea has recently become more active than it has been in years, most of the national park surrounding it was closed because of dangerous levels of sulfur dioxide gas, but we got to see the smoke plume with some of the surrounding steam vents. Here volcanic ash is spewing from the Halema'uma'u crater on Kilauea
Once down in the valley, we decided to explore the rocky shore, and found another waterfall. Mostly boring stuff, except when I almost fall into the water at about 30 seconds into the video.
