Hummingbird feeding on feeder with a clear pipe where you can see their tongue licking up the nectar. Also near the end note the bird in the flowers at top of picture.
I filmed this from the roof of my RV while staying in Arizona in 2003. I used a tripod but the wind was blowing the nest around quite a bit. I have a much longer version but edited it down for
YouTube. You will cringe when you see the mamma hummer stick her beak down her babies throats. It starts with one baby and then two the next day. Enjoy.
This mother hummer built her nest on a string of Christmas lights with one light right in the middle of the bottom of the nest. I don't know if she was just in the Christmas spirit or in a party mood, but one thing was sure, she was going to have one of the first hummer nests with electric lighting.
Pictures of the Corral CYN Fire here in Malibu, 11/24/2007. 53 Homes burned. It started when some young people decided to build a fire in a cave and Party at the top of Corral Cyn during 60+ MPH Santa Anna winds. Not to bright.
These pictures were taken from the Malibu Beach RV Park.
I filmed this in the Sierras near Yosemite NP at around the 3,600 ft level in the summer of 2005. The feeder is one I made using copper pipe. I was using a standard 1 1/2 liter wine bottle and had to fill it twice a day. I was buying sugar in 25lb bags. This went on all summer long. Around the middle of September within a one week period, all the hummers left for the winter.
