This is my first ever upload, so I thought I'd share one of the pieces I'm most fond of, played by my favourite pianist, the late Friedrich Gulda, who played with an impeccable clarity and (in this piece) a peacefulness and innocence comparable with how Bach might have conceived the infant Jesus. The most tender of pieces.
Dan plays Bach's famous Prelude from the Well
Tempered Clavier Book 1 No 1
Prelude in C (BWV 846)
This baroque arpeggio study is played here on
piano by Sydney pianist Dan
The Well-Tempered Clavier
(Das Wohltemperirte Clavier in German)
Book I, was completed in 1722
The Bach fugue - unspliced - with me playing. I thought it might be fun to watch the fingerwork, as I use no pedal. (I'm not a great Bach player; I think maybe Bach will be for my old age.... assuming I reach old age....)
J.S. Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book II, Prelude and Fugue No. 20 in A minor, BWV 889 (on 1892 6'2" Knabe grand). In the prelude: B-natural instead of B-flat played erroneously in first go-through of 2nd section, bar 25, beat 4. Also, oafish fingering at the end of the first section!
sorry for the mistakes and the bad editing. I'll take it down once i make a better video. thanks to all my friends who waited so long for me to put up a video.
Johann Sebastian Bach:
Das Wohltemperierte Klavier Teil II
Prelude & Fuga XXIII in B major BWV 892
Erwin Poelstra, piano
First "raw" attempt without editing...;)
Thanks again to Sancta Suzetta with her Blessed Cam, Patroness of Dutch pianists...
Beautiful and peaceful. I love the prelude for sure but I love the fugue even more^^
I am not used to play Bach, mostly because it is so incredibly difficult and requires so much work. But still, I tried hard to make this video and I hope you will like it :)

Recorded in March 2008
If you really want to understand this fugue the only thing you have to memorize is..."Tà-ra-rà-ra/rà -ra-rà-ra/raaaaaaa ta raaaaaa ta raaaaaa" :D (tip both for players and listerers)
