After an empty hopper train went west on the Old Main Line, CSX Q-702 gets back on the move heading EB toward Baltimore with trasher ES44DC 5217 leading SD-50 8597. 8597 would have most definately served as a more interesting lead unit rather than the dumb GEVO.

On the morning of October 26th, 2008, railfans in the Hudson Valley were blessed with a cloudless sky, perfect fall foliage, beautiful scenery...and ONE train! CSX Q702 (...the trash train!) heads north over Iona Island and Fort Montgomery on its journey up the Hudson towards Selkirk. Shot on CSX's River Subdivision at Bear Mountain, NY.

CSX Q-398 is slowly headed EB toward Baltimore on the Old Main Line with ES44DC 5200 leading CW44AC 339. The only slightly interesting element about 5200 was that it was one of the first ES44DCs delivered to CSX. Also Q-702 finally receives a fresh crew to relieve the current crew who held the train down for several hours.
Here is late MARC (CSX) P-840 going EB into Baltimore. GP-39 73 leads with cab car 7745 on the rear. The engineer was sounding 73's K5LA a good bit a few minutes before he actually came through the station. CSX Q-702 (empty trash) would sit at St. Denis until about 1:30 pm this day before he got a re-crew.

CSX ES44DC's #5210 and #5299 lead CSX Q702-10 eastbound at Riverdale Park. This train is coming onto the main on its way to New York with empty dumpsters which could use a healthy dose of Lysol!

Here we see CSX Q-702 sailing around the bend heading EB toward Baltimore. Ex. Conrail SD60M 8786 leading with SD-50 8597 trailing. Nice K5LA on 8786 and friendly wave from the engineer. Not all that common to see most trash trains with this many flats vacant without trash containers.

CSX Q703-04 heads down the east leg of the Hyattsville wye on its way south a load of garbage. Leading is CSX ES44DC #5221 and CW40-8 #7864. A few minutes later Q702-04 heads up with a load of empties lead by CSX ES44DC #5382 and SD60M #8763.
CSX Q-702 is seen passing by with another boring pair of GEVOs for power heading EB toward Baltimore. But at least the GEVOs do belong on trash trains as they are trash themselves. ES44DC 5289 is leading with
ES44DC 5499 trailing.
