This is the boss battle after you complete Eggmanland. This boss is pretty easy as long as you can pull off the quicktime elements.
This temporary boss skip enables you, with perfect timing and 2 energy tanks, to get the ice beam without the varia suit. It's a pretty hard thing to pull off, actually, because when you do just one mistake, like falling into the lava or missing the mid air morphs, you'd die in the heat.
