Here is the same design for an octahedron but using a 260. The design is described with three intermediate stages called "the square", "the snake", and "the cross". The smaller balloon looks a lot different.
Alphabetical templates printed on cardstock and designed for easy use by students are used to create paper models of both a regular tetrahedron and a regular octahedron.

Took me over 2 months to make all. Actually I miscaculated the # of pieces & made more than needed...
This is the most longest time I spent on an origami.
Type:icosahedron< br />
Size:17x17x17cm
Pieces:(4x4cm)?42 0? (2x2cm)?420?
Time:90hr
This was semi lucky
Towards the end everything kindof came together
Anyway, this is an excellent quality octahedron purchased from Scott Bedard who custom makes them. You can find him on the twistypuzzles forum

This is my pineapple balloon design. It's a variation of the balloon octahedron with a bit of decoration on it (a portion of a 160 balloon--sorry I ran out of green). This would probably make for some nice decorations at a Hawaiian party.
