To pay tribute for our four legged friends who have bared the brunt of the trip we get out of the sled one by one and run with them. After running for about 2 minutes on an only partially frozen ocean with hazards at every step the respect that I have for these dogs is immeasurable.
The uncle who has the keys to the shack comes back from fishing. Best not to tell him we slit the window to get the harnesseses and gun so we act innocent as he drives past us.

Start of the Nunavut Quest -- celebration and dance the Saturday before and the race start on Monday. April 28, 2008. Music on the slideshow is from the Hazers, a really popular local Inuit band. The race this year goes from Igloolik to Arctic Bay, Nunavut and features 18 teams.
