With 99.99% certainty, consciousness is a part of the computing process, and is part in the cause of our behaviour. This because consciousness simply is too unlikely to have evolved otherwise. Could something that takes so much complexity be useless? If it is useless, natural selection had nothing to do with it's evolution and that is next to impossible.
