Science does not "suppress" their proposals it's simply that they don't have the evidence. One can have unlimited faith and passion for some belief, but that is far from evidence.

Seriously though, when you're up there, it's not about progression anymore, it's about a careful consideration of your own ability. You can't always find the perfect spot work up to the next step; part of making progress is solidifying self confidence, but also learning when to suppress it. Self-awareness and safety above all.
