The two sung this song together on Frankie's TV Show in 1956. The Recording came out in 1957 but never charted in the U.S. but did reach #27 in England. The show sounds corny by todays standards, but I guess that's the way we were back 50 years ago. Gee
I miss thoes times.
Frankie Laine never recorded this song,
though several singers had large hits with it in 1953. Georgia Gibbs #1 , Tony Martin was #6 and Billy Eckstine #16 to name a few. This video is from Frankie's TV show in 1954.
This was a hugh #1 hit for Vaughn Nonroe in 1949. It was also recorded by
Peggy Lee, Bing Crosby and later by Frankie Laine and Johnnie Cash to name a few. But this was the first recording of this great song.
From the 1949 movie "Make Believe Ball Room" Starring Jerome Courtland. This was the first time that the general public got to see what this new singing sinsation looked like, many thought he was black.
With Jack Jones and Aretha Franklin
This is an audio of the music sectio of the program. 5 songs are up for best song. each of the stars sing one each then they team up for the other two. This was taken from an LP made by
The American Frankie Laine Fan Club over 20 years ago.
In 1956 Frankie recorded two songs that was to go on a Children's Album. The Album never came to pass. The recordings were put out on a special 45rpm recording but I don't think it much notice. They were never used on an LP so never on a CD (except for the Bear Box set #3)
From the 1955 Western Movie by the Same name. For some reason this recording was never put out on a record. It should have been, Columbia put out "Strange Lady In Town" from a western the same year and I think this is better.
In the 60's & 70's, Frankie sang the Theme Songs for three TV Western Series. They were 1961 "Gunslinger",
1967 "Rango" 1979 "Sheriff Lobo". Here the Opening Credits with the theme songs of all three.
