During our trip to China, we visited the Miao village of Xijiang. They are one of the many ethnic minorities in China. We were welcomed with a lighting of a firecracker, a traditional Miao song, and a drink (or rather a sip) of rice wine. We were also given this pink egg necklace, which I guess is like a lei, Chinese style.
In this video, our tour guide, Julia (Roberts), explains the Forbidden City's history and some tidbits. This was part of our trip to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guiyang, China and Taiwan.
During our trip to China, we went to this part of Beijing, unlike the usual rows of tall building commonly associated with the city. It's called the Hutong. My Chinese pengyou, Roger, and I went around this village by means of a rickshaw driven by this Chinese man.
