Crews were dispatched to a reported garage fire, Engine 12 pulled up and reported a frame dwelling with an attached garage on fire. Multiple lines were pulled and interior operations were halted due to the extreme fire conditions. The homeowner escaped with minor injuries. Arson investigators were called to the scene.

Words really can't describe the accident except a child wandered off and ventured into the wrong place. I hope that at least now someone will put a fence up to separate the trailer park from the tracks. It is sad a life had to be lost especially a 2 year old to get a point across.
Two rounds of storms slammed Lake County Indiana late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Noaa confirmed 3 tornadoes in the Illinois Indiana area that night. Griffith Indiana suffered the most damage from these storms. Also effected were Lake Ridge, Munster, Gary, Highland, Hobart, and Lake Station. Minor injuries were reported in the Lake County area.
Crews were dispatched to a report of a vacant house fire in the 1200 block of Fayette. On arrival the front door was found open and fire was visible blowing through a bedroom window. Multiple lines were pulled and firefighters made an interior/exterior attack. The fire was brought under control within an hour. One firefighter suffered minor injuries at the scene.

Crews arrived on scene of a 300 by 1,000 brick warehouse and found heavy smoke from the roof, along with heavy fire was hazardous materials which called for an initial exterior attack. Crews remained on scene for 4 hours hitting hot spots.
