Stare at the center of the rotating spiral for 30 seconds, then look at a stationary object like the back of your hand. This illusion works because our eyes become fatigued. Staring at the disk as it keeps spinning in the same direction desensitizes motion-detecting cells in our eyes, and they don't respond to change as quickly as other cells.

The pendulum at COSI is a visitor favorite. It demonstrates that the Earth rotates at 790 mph! Science shows that as the Earth moves, it carries COSI with it, and COSI carries the pendulum, giving the illusion that the pendulum is moving in a circle.

We visited a large number of tombs today, even ones not open to tourists. The council had to move rocks away from one tomb so we could enter. This is the Tomb of Menna.

We're having fun with air pressure today! Fast moving air is characterized as low pressure. When fast moving air collides with slowing moving air (high pressure) some lift is created... besides the kids love toilet paper!
