More of our running contact journey... we skipped over this basic step so I'm going back to it to try to give the dogs a better understanding of what I want from them.
Steamy had his Open JWW debut today and picked up his first leg with a nice run! Then came Novice Standard where he was a a bit wild and missed his AF contact and then had a teeter fly off - Woo Hoo! Love running the baby boy!
Working on showing him the difference between running straight off the contact and turning. I can see where I started relaxing my criteria and he started adding a jump at the end of the contact...
Slider has a tendency to stop short on his teeter so I'm powering up the end with his most favoritest toy in the whole wide world, the fringed softie riot stick. :-)
This was our last chance to get the needed 2nd PNS Q for Nationals. Kirby missed a couple of local USDAA trials earlier this year due to injury. I handled this pretty carefully but let him release too early from the dogwalk so he was faulted for that but luckily we stayed on course and kept all the bars up and made it! Now he is qualified to play in everything at Nationals.
