-pick up the foot by running your hand down the back of the horse's leg
-always watch the other legs as he could kick you with one of them
-make sure your foot isn't under the area where if the horse stamped its foot down it would land on your foot
-brush the horses tail standing off to the side not directly behind the horse because if the horse was to kick out at a fly or something he could accedently kick you
Stand off to the side when putting the horse's boots on. If you were to stand in front of the horse and it bolted or lifted his leg up he could injure you.
-always make sure the area where the cross ties are are safe (nothing the horse could step on)
-cross ties have balers twine where attached to the ring on the wall
-lead rope not hanging down off horse's halter
