Terri Nunn of Berlin talks a little about SM during their visit to Folsom Street Fair on Sept. 28, just before singing their first hit "Matter of Time." (I only caught the first part of the song, since the crowd become thick enough no sound was being picked up--but she looks and sounds fabulous! The whole band does...)
"Mad at the Dirt" live at Folsom Street in San Francisco, 9/28/08. (This is from a hand-held camcorder, so the picture and sound aren't "professional quality.")
We're at about the two-mile mark here...walking south along Lake Shore Drive. The Chicago Yacht Club is on the left, and the skyline on the right. We come across the ROTC club doing their routine, and I search for familiar faces while admiring the chihuahuas in front of us.
After the runners have all crossed the start line, it's our turn! We head east on Balbo and turn south on Columbus, to the accompaniment of brass bands playing the "Indiana Jones" theme...
Just a few miles from Folsom Street, where we (The Joans) played is the corner of 18th and Castro. After we finished our set and watched a few other bands, I got a chance to visit the area. Really great place...
We're at about the 2.5 mile mark here, passing by the museum campus one last time and encountering, "Brad, That Juggling Guy." Yes, that is his official name. We get a brief look at his plaid outfit--it's unforgettable!
This is Market Street, just west of Taylor Street...a really interesting "urban" feel--a lot like my neighborhood in Chicago, kind of...it's my first time in San Francisco, so I'm taking it all in...
We've now been in the air for around an hour and 10 min., making it roughly about 600 miles from Chicago at this point. Can't really tell what state this is, but there are lots of hills, so it's getting close to some mountains...
Taylor and I have just arrived at O'Hare and we're waiting around for the plane to take us to San Francisco for The Joans gig at Folsom Street. We're just sitting around, with nothing better to do. It IS an airport, after all...
We're coming to the one-mile mark, near the museum campus, and Stephen gives us an update on pledges and donations received--and by how much we've exceeded our goal. (Despite the predictions of some!)
The plane has now been in the air for about a half hour or so...we appear to be flying over the Mississippi River. You can see how swollen it still is from all the recent flooding. Sorry the sound is so bad--the air pressure/altitude sort of swallowed it up!
We're approaching Balbo Ave. and the finish line here...we come across Chester Cheetah (or at least the person playing his role today). Boy, he must have been dying in that suit! But Stephen and Melissa show him the love.
